10:00 am Rabbi Doug Heifetz Leads Shabbat Service
Rabbi Doug Heifetz will lead this Shabbat morning service and discussion. This week’s Torah portion, Mishpatim, turns from the spectacular revelation of the ten commandments at Mt. Sinai to a discussion of relatively mundane laws. It turns from the clear call “Do not murder”, to a discussion of what to do in case of accidental death or manslaughter. Why the sudden turn? Isn’t this a letdown? Shouldn’t religion stick with the high and lofty stuff? What can we learn for our daily lives from this literary shift?
