10:00 am Shabbat Morning Service with Rabbi Doug Heifetz For Shabbat Nachamu, we will study the messages of comfort and hope found in the Haftarah of this Sabbath, from the book of Isaiah. The name of the Haftarah comes from the words of the prophet Isaiah, who urges the people to “Find comfort (‘nachamu’) my people”. This reading always follows the sad commemorative holiday of Tisha B’av in our calendar. How does the prophet try to help the people find comfort? What sort of healing can they seek or hope to find? How are the messages relevant to us? Feel free to bring a vegetarian dish to share for the community Kiddush after the service. Kiddush will be followed by study and discussion of this week’s topic.
