If Our Animals Could Talk
This week’s Torah portion, Parshat Balak, includes the only example in the Torah of an animal who speaks in human language. For a brief moment, a donkey speaks to the prophet Balaam. What does a speaking animal add to the story? What about for us? If our animals could speak, what would they have to say? What would it add to our stories?
