Later this month we celebrate the holiday of Shavuot. At today’s service we’ll explore the Book of Ruth, and discuss why it’s traditionally read on the holiday. Did you know that this ancient biblical book may well contain the oldest description of a same-sex commitment ceremony, and perhaps the oldest vows of romantic commitment?
