Purim is coming soon! Jews all over the world read the Book of Esther publicly in synagogue on the holiday. Whenever the name of the villain “Haman” is read aloud, the congregation traditionally responds with loud noises, boo’s and hisses to ‘blot out’ Haman’s name. We’ll study the roots of this raucous tradition, and find a deep message of caring for the vulnerable at its core. How does this message apply today?
