SUMMARY:Potluck Dinner\, Tu B'Shvat Seder\, Remembrance for Ira P. May z"l
DESCRIPTION:Potluck Dinner\, Tu B’Shvat Seder\, and Remembrance for Ira P. May z”l \nJoin us on this special evening for: \n6:30 pm – Potluck Dinner \n7:15 pm – Tu B’Shvat Seder \n8:00 pm – Remembrance of the Life of Ira P. May z”l \nYou are welcome to attend any or all parts of the evening. \nWe begin with a Potluck Dinner at 6:30 pm. Please bring a dairy\, vegetarian\, or vegan dish to share. (We’d like to start the dinner right at 6:30 so we’ll be able to move on to the Seder at 7:15 pm.) \nThe participatory Tu B’Shvat Seder will celebrate the “New Year for the Trees” as this holiday has come to be known. Originally an ancient holiday to mark the beginning of a new growing year\, Tu B’Shvat has evolved to symbolize an appreciation for our planet and environmental awareness. During the Seder\, we’ll enjoy several different types of fruit as we reflect on the elemental forces of Earth\, Water\, Air\, and Fire. \nAfter the Seder\, we will have a Remembrance of the Life of Ira P. May z”l\, who passed away last week. Ira was a Beit Tikvah Board Member\, a Techie\, a Scientist\, a Family Man\, and an all-around “Mensch.” He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. \nRSVP to info@beittikvah.org.

SUMMARY:Rabbi-Led Shabbat Service
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am  Rabbi-Led Shabbat Service \nSibling Rivalries in Genesis \nThis week’s Torah portion\, Toldot\, introduces the bitter rivalry between Jacob and Esau\, and their eventual tentative reconciliation. What is its relevance for us today? \nPlease bring a dairy\, vegan or vegetarian dish to share for the Community Kiddush. Due to increased security concerns\, please RSVP to info@beittikvah.org if you plan to attend.

SUMMARY:Shabbat Service with the Rabbi
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am  Shabbat Service with the Rabbi \nThe Soul’s Wakeup Call \nIs it possible that you’re missing out on some of your deepest opportunities for growth\, healing\, fulfillment\, and harmony with others? How can you know? What if you were to awaken to a crucial area that you’ve neglected? It’s certainly not too late to explore and act! \nCome get inspired during our study/discussion session after the service on August 26th. It falls near the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul\, a month of soulful awakening and preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur\, less than a month later. We’ll study the shofar call (ram’s horn blast)\, which happens every day during Elul\, and helps to stir our souls to greater awareness. The session is inspired by a chapter from a book entitled “This Is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared”\, by Rabbi Alan Lew\, of blessed memory. Purchasing or borrowing the book is highly recommended\, but not required to attend. \nPlease bring a vegetarian dish to share at the community Kiddush. Please RSVP to info@beittikvah.org.

How about the one who doesn’t even know what to ask? Which one will you be this year? \nPlease bring a vegetarian nosh. Please RSVP what you are bringing to info@beittikvah.org.
