God would speak to the Israelites from between the Cherubim. What was the origin of these two creatures\, and why were they so central for Israel and humanity? In contrast with the Cherubim\, who faced each other\, the Roman god Janus had two faces that faced away from each other. Community Pot-Luck  and Art Project:This brief\, reflective art ritual invites participants to symbolically “release” what they no longer want to carry into the new year\, and to plant intentions for resilience and growth—guided by our High Holiday communal theme.   Participants will decorate cards (or seed paper) with watercolor\, words\, or natural materials\, representing something they are ready to let go of or something they hope to nurture this year.
