SUMMARY:Rabbi-Led Shabbat Service
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am  Rabbi-Led Shabbat Service \nJoin us for this Shabbat morning service led by Rabbi Doug Heifetz. \nThe Four Children – the Myers-Briggs Test of Passover \nThe holiday of Passover starts on Wednesday evening\, April 5th. To get ready for the holiday\, we’ll discuss the origin and meanings of the ‘Four Children’ described in the Haggadah\, the handbook for the festive meal. Although some of the descriptions of the Four Children seem pejorative\, each one has its positives\, too. What are the advantages of being the ‘dumb one’\, or the ‘wicked one’? How about the one who doesn’t even know what to ask? Which one will you be this year? \nPlease bring a vegetarian nosh. Please RSVP what you are bringing to info@beittikvah.org.

SUMMARY:Rosh Hashanah Tashlich Service
DESCRIPTION:12:30 p.m. Tashlich: “Casting off the chains of the past” \nLed by Rabbi Doug Heifetz \nTashlich is the traditional ritual of ‘casting off’ old behaviors and patterns that no longer serve us\, so that we can start the New Year more free and less encumbered by the past. This year we will hold our Tashlich just after the Rosh Hashanah morning service\, outside the community center. The brief ritual will involve simple songs and chants\, time for reflection\, and the chance to create a community mural that will be washed with water\, symbolizing a new freedom and distance from harmful patterns of the past. \n  \nNote: This service is available in-person and ZOOM BY RESERVATION ONLY. \nSend a High Holy Days Reservation Form to info@beittikvah.org by Friday\, September 9 if you would like to join us for this or any other High Holy Day service. \nPlease click this link to go to our High Holy Days 2022 webpage for reservation forms and information.

SUMMARY:Shabbat Morning Service with Rabbi Doug Heifetz
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am  Shabbat Morning Service with Rabbi Doug Heifetz \nFor Shabbat Nachamu\, we will study the messages of comfort and hope found in the Haftarah of this Sabbath\, from the book of Isaiah. The name of the Haftarah comes from the words of the prophet Isaiah\, who urges the people to “Find comfort (‘nachamu’) my people”. This reading always follows the sad commemorative holiday of Tisha B’av in our calendar. How does the prophet try to help the people find comfort? What sort of healing can they seek or hope to find? How are the messages relevant to us? \nFeel free to bring a vegetarian dish to share for the community Kiddush after the service. \nKiddush will be followed by study and discussion of this week’s topic.\n \nPlease RSVP to info@beittikvah.org. \nClick to see our current COVID-19 Safety Procedures.

SUMMARY:Potluck Supper & Congregant-Led Service (In-person)
DESCRIPTION:7:00 pm Potluck Supper & Congregant-Led Service (In-person)\n \nJoin us for a potluck supper and a congregant-led service with a discussion of Leviticus 25 and Slavery. \nOur tradition continually reminds us to be compassionate to “the Other” since “We were Slaves in Egypt” but acknowledges that we lived and continue to live in a slave-holding world which has a dark underbelly. \nToday more than 40 million people are estimated to be trapped in modern slavery worldwide and 1 in 4 are children. Many of us today are unknowingly the beneficiaries of their enslavement. \nTonight we will discuss what is being done to decrease these numbers and how we can each do our part. \nPlease bring a vegetarian potluck dish to share with the community at 7:00 pm with the service immediately following.\n \nPlease RSVP to info@beittikvah.org. \nClick to see our current COVID-19 Safety Procedures.

SUMMARY:Shabbat Morning Service with Rabbi Doug Heifetz (In-person)
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am  Shabbat Morning Service led by Rabbi Doug Heifetz \nThe Miracle of Crossing the Sea: The Real Story\nPassover is coming up! One of the central elements of the Passover story is the crossing of the Sea of Reeds. As our Israelite ancestors left behind their lives of slavery in Egypt\, they arrived at the shore of the Sea of Reeds\, an inlet of the Red Sea. Pharoah’s mighty army pursued them as they arrived. They managed to cross over miraculously. However\, the Torah gives us a number of mysterious details about the episode that each reveal multiple interpretations. Let’s read and discover the possibilities\, and see how it relates to our own pursuit of freedom in this season.\n \nPlease bring a healthy (non-meat) nosh to share for the community Kiddush after the service. \nKiddush will be followed by study and discussion of this week’s topic from 12 Noon to 1 PM.\n \nPlease RSVP to info@beittikvah.org. \nClick to see our current COVID-19 Safety Procedures.
