Tikkun Olam

Beit Tikvah members are committed to repairing the world and look for opportunities to engage the Baltimore area community. Watch this space which will be updated as more information comes available about this year's activities, including our work with the Baltimore Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Visit the Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network's website at www.bjen.org.

Join us in the traditional giving of food during Purim & Pesach. Pick up a grocery bag at services, and return it before Pesach filled with non-perishable foods. Also available at services will be donation envelopes for MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger

BIHN is on temporary break from hosting as it reorganizes its day shelter arrangements.

Progress Update -- Baltimore Interfaith Hospitality Network (BIHN)

Baltimore Interfaith Hospitality Network (BIHN) volunteers have been hard at work rebuilding the organization since suspending operations in March. Now armed with a strategic plan, communications tools, a broader and more diverse board, and nearly sufficient funds to hire a new executive director, BIHN is getting closer to reestablishing services. BIHN wants to thank Congregation Beit Tikvah volunteers for all of your support. If you can consider a contribution to BIHN at this time, please contact Janet Felsten, BT's network coordinator. Please visit www.baltimoreihn.org for additional information and to sign up for the e-newsletter.

We co-host at Roland Park Presbyterian Church, 4801 Roland Avenue, offering hospitality and home cooked meals to the (maximum of four) homeless families in the Network. Slots available include:

Dinner Host 5-7:30 (bring and share dinner w/guests)

Evening Host 7-9pm (doing activities w/the children, bringing a movie, instruments, art projects, etc. or just visiting with folks, being present if needed)

Overnight Host from 8:30pm to 6:30 am (staying overnight on air mattress, putting out take-along breakfast foods)

Let's put some energy into Tikkun Olam!

To see the commentaries from Beit Tikvah (Omer Teachings: Saving Trees and Heal the Heart; Lie on the Earth) and from other rabbis, hazzanim (cantors), educators and members of JRF congregations visit http://www4.jrf.org/omer.
