The
Board of Directors
The Board
of Directors is elected by an annual vote by the entire congregational
membership. Board members, who gather monthly in open meetings, serve
one- or two-year terms.
The responsibilities
of the Board of Directors are:
- to
conduct the general management of the affairs, funds, records, and
property of the Congregation;
- to
act on all matters of policy;
- to
fill all vacancies on the Board of Directors until the next Congregational
election;
- to
terminate or suspend the membership of a member for cause; in accordance
with the procedures set forth in Article IV, Sections 7 and 8;
- to
recommend the dues, fees, and assessments to the Congregation;
- to
have the power and the authority to borrow money and pledge or mortgage
personal or real property of the Congregation for the repayment thereof;
- to
have the power and authority to engage or discharge professional staff
and other employees and to fix their duties and compensation;
- to
have the power and authority as may be necessary or incidental to
the proper management of its affairs, provided that such powers are
not expressly forbidden under the applicable provisions of the Annotated
Code of Maryland or these by-laws;
- to
perform other duties as the members of the Congregation; in regular
of special meeting, may prescribe.
Below
is the current Board membership, elected at the annual congregation
meeting in June 2008. They will serve from 2008-2010.
The Executive Committee: The
Executive Committee shall have no power to make decisions, only to preview
and make recommendations on action to be considered by the Board of
Directors. The actual responsibilities of the Steering Committee are
to function as:
- a
clearing house for all committee reports and proposals to the Board
of Directors;
- the
finance committee;
- the
personnel committee.
