Beit Tikvah Torah Parade In May of 2007, Congregation Beit Tikvah was honored and thrilled to announce the imminent arrival of our very first Torah scroll. Truly, a Jewish congregation becomes alive when it receives its own Torah. Our young congregation has been blessed by the kindness of Congregation Beth Am, which has generously loaned us one of their Torah scrolls since our inception in 1985. On May 20, 2007 / 3 Sivan 5767, we were proud to welcome our very own Torah to our house of worship. Restoring our particular Torah scroll was a truly blessed event, as it was just recently discovered in tatters in a walled-in closet during a renovation in a synagogue in New Jersey. They sought to find a congregation that would restore it and put it back into honorable condition. We were, and continue to be, honored that they selected our congregation. Welcoming a Torah to its new home is a sacred and joyous event, and it is customarily escorted to its new house of worship by the congregants in a celebratory parade. Our parade was held on May 20, 2007. Click here to see us welcome our new Torah! 1 min 3 sec - May 20, 2007
